Nora in Japan
Dateline Tokyo:
After a long flight with many movies we arrived.
Monako, the marketing director for Harlequin K K
was the first face I saw after customs. I'd met her
in NY in June so it was nice to have this friendly
face greeting us. She had a sales rep with a video
camera with her. LOL. Our arrival, the loading of
the baggage, the getting into the car are all
recorded.
It's about an hour, driving at great rates of
speed, to get from the airport to downtown. BW's
first sight of Tokyo was like mine seven years ago.
Jaw dropping. There are so many building, like NY
times a million. Huge tall, shiny buildings, lots
of lights. Monako tells us that the neon lighted
hotels along the highway cater to young lovers and
rent by the hour for trysts. Some rooms have their
own little swimming pools--she's heard. LOL.
We're at the Hotel Intercontinental here. Two
reps from guest services met us at the door,
whisked us up to our suite. No pesky checking in
for Nora-san here. <g> And the suite is
amazing. Huge. Wide window walls looking out on
Tokyo Bay and the lighted boats and bridges. Fancy
entertainment system I think I've just figured out
how to work. Beautiful gold wood and many Japenese
boxes. Lovely bedroom with another huge window,
chaise, long desk.
The closet is also a dressing room with
automatic lights and a chair in case madam wearies
of perusing her wardrobe. The bathroom is fabulous.
Big and spacious, motor tub,
long counter with twin sinks, separate vanity area
and a shower big enough for six close friends with
six shower heads that beat on you from all
different directions at once.
I want to live in the shower here.
And the view from the bathroom is awesome.
Once our luggage was delivered I hoped in the
tub with a glass of our complimentary bubbly and
soaked out eight hours of travel. Ate a little
pasta and went to bed.
Today is supposed to be free, but.....so sorry,
there's a photo shoot at ten-thirty. And a
corporate dinner tonight. Other than that there's a
car at our disposal and Monako will take us on a
tour somewhere. There goes my idea of maybe writing
a while today.
Did get my prologue written in Cairns so no
complaining, I guess.
