Nora's England/Ireland Travels 2002

Dublin, June 8, 2002

No alarm clock this morning. Lazed around, then went out shopping. Baby clothes! Such fun. Christmas presents. And a great lambswool knock around cardigan for me. More presents, more poking around on Grafton Street where the buxters were out. One little boy was shout-singing Avalon. It was kind of cute. Chilly out, but the rain held off, and the crowds came out. We found a little Italian place and had excellent pizza for lunch. Just wandering around in very fresh air under threatening skies.

I think we were both still a little tired, but it was good to be out and about. We took a nice walk through the park on the way back home. The foxgloves were triple the size of what I can grow at home.

A christening party was happening back at the hotel, with little girls in their best dresses running around, and families having tea in the drawing rooms. BW and I collapsed in the bar and had a drink before trudging up to our room to dump our stuff.

World Cup fever is everywhere, and we're just infected enough that we watched a bit of a match. The Italians lost today.

We both had aromatherapy treatments booked, and went down early to enjoy the gorgeous negative edge pool. Incredibly relaxing for both of us. At one point a young father came in with his two little girls. Really sweet to watch him play around with both of them.

I got a full body aromatherapy, with scalp massage and facial. God. Ninety minutes of total bliss. I look pretty silly as I'm told to leave this stuff in my hair for another hour, but it's worth it. Room service is ordered. We're having an easy night before our drive to the west tomorrow.

This is starting to feel like vacation.
